Placer Co, CA - Four Hospitalized After Truck Accident on I-80

Placer County, CA (May 29, 2025) – A stretch of eastbound Interstate 80 in Placer County was closed Thursday evening due to a vehicle crash and fire after crashing, officials said.

Cal Fire had crews respond to the scene and found the vehicle 100 feet over an embankment. After the car caught fire, the flames spread to nearby vegetation off the side of the freeway.

The crash happened shortly after 4:45 p.m. near Blue Canyon Road, and witnesses say a truck may have been involved in the incident. All four people inside the other vehicle suffered moderate to critical injuries, Cal Fire added.
