Yuba Co, CA - Teen Dies in Vehicle Crash on Hwy 70

Yuba County, CA (April 5, 2025) – Further details were released on Wednesday, April 2, after a fatal crash in Yuba County on Highway 70 earlier this week that claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy, according to the California Highway Patrol.

On Wednesday, the Yuba County Sheriff's Office identified the victim killed as being a teenager from Olivehurst. CHP said the crash happened near the Feather River Boulevard exit on northbound Highway 70.

The crash involved a Honda Pilot that had overturned off the freeway and landed approximately 50 feet down a dirt embankment, CHP said. Emergency responders arrived on the scene and located the child, who was unresponsive. He was a passenger in the vehicle. CHP said there were also two other people inside the overturned vehicle.

Life-saving measures were performed on the 14-year-old, but he succumbed to his injuries. The two other patients sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The cause of the crash, including whether alcohol or distracted driving played a role, remains under investigation in the interim.
