San Jose, CA - Fire Displaces Residents of Two Homes on Gavota Ave, Results in Injuries

San Jose, CA (July 26, 2025) – Crews were responding to a fire that broke out at a single-story home on July 23 in San Jose, according to the San Jose Fire Department (SJFD), and authorities released additional details related to the blaze on Friday.

The residence is located on the 3300 block of Gavota Avenue, where the fire department received a call at 2:37 p.m. The fire spread to a neighboring house, SJFD said. The fires at both homes have since been knocked down.

Two adults and two dogs were displaced from the main home, but one of the dogs was unaccounted for, according to the SJFD. In the adjacent home where the fire spread to, four adults, two dogs, and one cat were displaced due to fire exposure. SJFD added that one cat was unaccounted for. The Red Cross is assisting those victims.

It is unclear what started the fire or how many injuries were reported, though EMTs responded to the site. A firefighter was also treated for unknown injuries. However, the investigation continues, and no further details were released.
