Salinas, CA (September 13, 2025) – A tragic three-vehicle crash occurred on Thursday afternoon, September 11, on Highway 183, south of Cooper Road, resulting in two fatalities. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the crash at approximately 4:16 p.m.
According to CHP, a red sedan was waiting to make a left turn when it was rear-ended by a gray GMC SUV. The impact pushed the sedan into an oncoming semi-truck traveling northbound. The semi-truck then collided with the red sedan, resulting in fatal injuries to two passengers inside. The driver of the red sedan, a 20-year-old man, was transported to the hospital with major injuries.
The driver of the GMC SUV fled the scene but was later located and identified as a 19-year-old woman from Salinas. CHP reports that drugs or alcohol are not believed to have been factors in the crash, and it is still unclear whether the woman will face any charges or arrest.
