The pain of losing a loved one in a deadly vehicle accident is heartbreaking. Financial hardships like medical bills, burial costs, and the loss of income or companionship sometimes accompany the emotional toll on families. Knowing your legal rights can be the first step to obtaining justice and closure in California.
Intoxicated driving, carelessness, irresponsible driving, and dangerous road conditions can all result in fatal auto accidents. If someone else's actions cause someone to die, the victim's family may be able to sue for wrongful death. Through this lawsuit, families can seek damages for both non-economic and economic losses, such as lost income, funeral expenses, and the psychological toll of losing a loved one.
Two years from the date of the accident is the usual statute of limitations for wrongful death claims in California. Maintaining evidence and constructing a compelling case need prompt action. Families can receive legal guidance from an experienced wrongful death lawyer, who will make sure their rights are upheld during this trying time.
Even if money cannot make up for the loss of a loved one, holding those responsible for the death accountable can bring about both financial stability and a sense of justice.
