Orinda, CA - Fatal Vehicle Collision on Hwy 24 at Wilder Rd Under Inquiry

Orinda, CA (March 14, 2025) – A crash on eastbound State Highway 24 in Orinda near the Caldecott Tunnel on March 14  killed one person and shut down lanes of traffic for about 90 minutes, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened just before 9:00 a.m. on eastbound Highway 24 near the Wilder Road exit and was blocking all eastbound lanes, the CHP said. Officials said they are withholding the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin. According to officers, the investigation continues at this time, and no further details were provided in the interim.
