Northridge, CA (November 3, 2025) – Authorities responded on Sunday, November 2, to a train-versus-pedestrian accident near the 8800 block of North Tampa Avenue in the Northridge area of Los Angeles. According to reports from the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), the incident occurred around 8:07 a.m. when an Amtrak train struck a male pedestrian approximately 30 years of age.
Firefighters and paramedics were immediately dispatched to the scene following reports of the collision. Upon arrival, emergency crews located the injured man and provided prompt medical treatment before rushing him to a nearby hospital. His current condition remains unknown as of this report.
In addition to assisting the pedestrian, LAFD personnel conducted triage assessments on approximately 185 passengers aboard the Amtrak train. No additional injuries were reported among those on board, and none of the train crew members were harmed. Train operations in the vicinity were temporarily delayed to allow emergency personnel to manage the situation and ensure passenger safety.
Local law enforcement officials worked alongside Amtrak representatives to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the incident or whether the pedestrian was in an authorized crossing area at the time. The investigation remains ongoing, and officials are reviewing surveillance footage and witness statements to establish the sequence of events.
We extend our best wishes for a full and speedy recovery to the injured pedestrian.
Train accidents involving pedestrians are rare but often result in severe or life-threatening injuries due to the size and speed of the train. The Northridge area, like many parts of Los Angeles, has several active rail lines running through residential and commercial zones, increasing the importance of rail safety awareness for both pedestrians and motorists.
According to data from the Federal Railroad Administration, California consistently ranks among the top states for train-related incidents, many of which occur near crossings or unauthorized access points. Safety officials continue to remind the public to use designated crossings, obey warning signals, and remain alert when approaching train tracks.
Victims of train accidents can face extensive medical treatment, rehabilitation, and financial strain following such events. Seeking legal guidance may help them understand their rights and explore compensation options for medical costs and other damages.
