Moorpark, CA - Semi-Truck Driver Killed in Crash with Train on Los Angeles Ave

Moorpark, CA (June 28, 2025) – A semi-truck driver lost their life Wednesday afternoon in a crash involving a Metrolink train in Ventura County. On June 25, at around 2:15 p.m., emergency crews were called to a railroad crossing near the intersection of Los Angeles Avenue and Montair Drive in Moorpark.

According to Metrolink officials, the Ventura County Line, train 118, was traveling southbound with 17 passengers and two crew members when it struck a semi-truck at the uncontrolled private crossing. The violent impact tore the front end of the big rig from the rest of the vehicle and wedged it beneath the train.

The Ventura County Fire Department confirmed that the semi-truck driver succumbed to injuries suffered in the crash. Fortunately, all five train cars and the engine stayed upright along the tracks. One person aboard the train was reported to have sustained minor injuries and received medical attention at the scene.

Footage from the aftermath revealed the mangled remnants of the semi-truck’s front end lodged under the train, with debris scattered across the railway. Crews responded quickly to secure the area and investigate the circumstances leading up to the deadly incident.
