Pedestrian accidents remain one of the leading causes of roadway fatalities across California, particularly in urban areas such as Monterey County. According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, pedestrian-related deaths have risen steadily in recent years, with many incidents occurring during early morning or late evening hours when visibility is limited.
North Fremont Street, a heavily traveled corridor lined with businesses and residential areas, experiences consistent pedestrian and vehicle activity throughout the day. Drivers are urged to remain attentive at all times, yield to pedestrians when appropriate, and reduce speed in mixed-use zones. Likewise, pedestrians are encouraged to use marked crosswalks and remain cautious when crossing high-traffic roadways.
Families who lose loved ones in fatal pedestrian crashes may be eligible to pursue compensation through wrongful death claims. Legal counsel can provide essential guidance in navigating the claims process, identifying liable parties, and securing compensation for funeral costs, loss of financial support, and other related damages.
