Modesto, CA - Bicyclist Dead Following Crash at Sylvan Ave & Wood Sorrel Dr

Modesto, CA (February 26, 2025) – A bicyclist has died after being hit by a vehicle in Modesto on Tuesday evening, the Modesto Police Department said.

Police said the crash occurred at Sylvan Avenue and Wood Sorrel Drive around 7:35 p.m. A vehicle traveling on Sylvan Avenue hit the bicyclist who was crossing the road near the intersection. Officers found the bicyclist, identified as a man from Modesto, with major injuries. The man died at the scene from his injuries despite lifesaving efforts, police said.

Emergency crews shut down a part of Sylvan Avenue in the area for investigation for a few hours on Tuesday evening. However, no further details were released as police continue to investigate the crash.
