Merced Co., CA – Two Killed in Head-On Collision on Hwy 59 Near Washington Rd

Merced County, CA (September 15, 2025) – A deadly head-on collision occurred late Sunday, September 14, on Highway 59 just south of Washington Road near Chowchilla. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the crash at approximately 11:00 p.m.

Investigators stated that a 30-year-old man was driving northbound in a 2016 Toyota Camry when a 28-year-old woman in a 2022 Camry crossed into the northbound lanes. The two vehicles collided head-on, sustaining extensive damage. Emergency responders arrived at the scene but determined that both drivers had died as a result of the crash.
