Los Angeles, CA – Two Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash on I-10 Fwy E Near State St

Los Angeles, CA (October 30, 2025) – Authorities are investigating a felony hit and run collision that left two people injured late Wednesday night on the I-10 Freeway East near State Street in Los Angeles. The crash, reported around 8:44 p.m., involved a silver Toyota with a masked license plate that fled the scene immediately after the impact.

According to the California Highway Patrol, emergency dispatchers received multiple 911 calls describing a high-speed crash involving a silver Toyota that struck another vehicle before speeding away toward the eastbound lanes. Two occupants of the struck vehicle sustained injuries and were transported by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics to U.S.C. Medical Center for treatment. Their current conditions remain undisclosed.

CHP officers quickly responded to the scene, closing several lanes of the eastbound I-10 to allow first responders to assist the injured and clear debris from the roadway. Traffic was diverted temporarily as investigators documented evidence and searched for vehicle fragments that might help identify the suspect’s car.

The Los Angeles Police Department and CHP’s Hit and Run Task Force are collaborating in the investigation, classifying the incident as a felony due to the injuries involved and the driver’s failure to stop and render aid. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the silver Toyota or its driver to contact CHP’s Central Los Angeles office.

We wish the victims and everyone involved a speedy recovery.

Hit-and-Run Accidents in Los Angeles

Two Injured in Felony Hit-and-Run Crash on I-10 Freeway East Near State St

Hit and run accidents remain a persistent problem in Los Angeles, especially along major freeways such as I-10, I-5, and U.S. 101, where high speeds and dense traffic increase the likelihood of serious injuries. According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, Los Angeles County consistently reports one of the highest numbers of hit-and-run crashes in the state. Many of these incidents involve reckless driving, speeding, or attempts to evade law enforcement following a prior violation.

Leaving the scene of a crash involving injuries is a felony under California Vehicle Code Section 20001, which mandates that all drivers must stop, exchange information, and provide assistance to anyone injured. Failure to do so can result in severe criminal penalties, including prison time, fines, and license suspension.

Victims of hit-and-run accidents often face significant financial and emotional burdens while recovering from injuries. In addition to physical pain, they must navigate medical bills, property damage, and insurance complications. While identifying and apprehending the responsible driver is critical, victims may also be eligible for compensation through their own uninsured motorist coverage if the suspect remains unidentified.
