Los Angeles, CA – Skateboarder Fatally Struck by LAPD Patrol Vehicle at Woodside Dr & N Figueroa St

Los Angeles, CA (September 20, 2025) – A man riding a skateboard was struck and killed by a Los Angeles Police Department patrol vehicle on Friday, September 19, in the Highland Park area. The collision occurred around 7:23 p.m. at the intersection of Woodside Drive and North Figueroa Street, near Sycamore Grove Park, according to LAPD officials.

Authorities reported that the man, believed to be in his 30s, was traveling southbound in the center of the roadway on a skateboard when the crash occurred. At the same time, a northbound LAPD patrol vehicle, responding to a call with its emergency lights and siren activated, was passing traffic in the center lane. The vehicle struck the skateboarder, causing fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.

The officer driving the patrol vehicle remained at the location and cooperated with the ongoing investigation. Law enforcement officials noted that the patrol car was in the process of bypassing traffic while en route to an emergency call when the incident occurred.
