Los Angeles, CA (November 1, 2025) – A fatal collision occurred on Thursday, October 30, on the northbound Harbor (110) Freeway near Manchester Avenue in South Los Angeles. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident was reported around 5:53 a.m. and involved a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle under unclear circumstances.
Emergency responders, including CHP officers and Los Angeles Fire Department personnel, arrived at the scene shortly after the call. Despite their efforts, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office was called to remove the body, while Caltrans crews assisted in clearing the wreckage and restoring traffic flow.
Authorities later identified the victim as a 38-year-old male. Three lanes of the northbound Harbor Freeway were temporarily closed as investigators worked to document the scene and determine the events leading to the collision. A SigAlert was issued to alert motorists of the lane closures, which caused heavy traffic congestion in both directions as drivers slowed near the crash site.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. Officials have not yet released information on the vehicle involved or whether the driver remained at the scene.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim during this difficult time.
Pedestrian Accidents in Los Angeles
Pedestrian fatalities remain a significant concern in Los Angeles, particularly along major highways and high-speed corridors such as the Harbor (110) Freeway. According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, Los Angeles County records one of the highest numbers of pedestrian deaths in the state each year. Many of these incidents occur during low-visibility hours, such as early mornings or late evenings, when motorists may have difficulty spotting individuals on or near the roadway.
Pedestrians are strongly advised to avoid walking on freeways and to use designated crossings and sidewalks wherever possible. Motorists should also remain alert, especially in poorly lit areas or where pedestrian activity may be unexpected.
