Los Angeles, CA (October 29, 2025) – A serious crash involving a motorcycle and a semitruck led to the complete closure of all southbound lanes on the 5 Freeway near the 10 Freeway in Boyle Heights on Tuesday, October 28. The collision was reported shortly before 6:00 a.m. and resulted in the motorcyclist becoming trapped underneath the front of the truck.
According to early reports, firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the scene and worked quickly to free the rider. Aerial footage from AIR7 showed emergency crews carefully pulling the trapped motorcyclist from beneath the semitruck’s front end. Once extricated, the injured motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The individual’s current condition has not yet been released.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the incident and temporarily shut down all southbound lanes of the freeway to allow emergency crews to work safely and remove the damaged vehicles. Traffic was heavily impacted during the morning commute as authorities directed motorists onto alternate routes.
Investigators are working to determine the circumstances that led to the crash, including whether speed, lane changes, or reduced visibility were factors. The identity of the motorcyclist has not yet been disclosed.
Our thoughts are with the injured motorcyclist, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.
Motorcycle collisions on major Los Angeles freeways, such as the 5 and 10 interchange, often result in severe or life-threatening injuries. The combination of high traffic volumes, merging lanes, and large commercial vehicles increases the risk for riders traveling during peak hours.
According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, Los Angeles County continues to lead the state in motorcycle-related crashes each year. Common causes include unsafe lane changes, speeding, and drivers failing to see approaching motorcycles in blind spots. These accidents frequently cause serious injuries due to the rider’s lack of physical protection.
Motorcyclists are encouraged to maintain safe distances, wear protective gear, and remain alert in heavy traffic zones. Drivers are urged to check mirrors and blind spots carefully before merging or changing lanes to prevent catastrophic collisions.
Motorcycle accident victims often face extensive medical treatment and financial hardship. Legal representation can help injured riders secure compensation for medical expenses, rehabilitation, and other losses resulting from such incidents.
