Los Angeles, CA (October 31, 2025) – Police in Los Angeles are investigating a felony hit and run that occurred early Friday morning, October 31, at the intersection of Vermont Avenue and W Florence Avenue. The crash, reported around 7:55 a.m., involved a black Tesla with a masked license plate that fled the scene before authorities arrived.
According to dispatch reports, officers with the Los Angeles Police Department and emergency medical personnel responded after receiving multiple 911 calls about a crash at the intersection. When units arrived, they found debris scattered across the roadway but no sign of the suspect vehicle.
Witnesses at the scene told investigators that the Tesla appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed before colliding with another vehicle and leaving the area without stopping. The license plate was reported to have been obscured or covered, making immediate identification of the vehicle difficult.
Paramedics treated at least one person for injuries sustained during the crash. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. Authorities have not released details on the individual’s condition at this time.
LAPD’s South Traffic Division is leading the investigation and reviewing surveillance footage from surrounding businesses to locate the suspect vehicle. Detectives are urging anyone with information about the crash or the whereabouts of the black Tesla to come forward.
The intersection of Vermont Ave and W Florence Ave remained partially closed for a brief period as officers documented the scene and cleared the roadway. The incident caused delays during the morning commute as commuters navigated around the investigation area.
We wish the victim and everyone involved a speedy recovery.

Hit and run collisions are a growing problem throughout Los Angeles County, posing serious dangers to drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists. According to data from the California Office of Traffic Safety, Los Angeles consistently reports one of the highest rates of hit and run crashes in the state, with thousands of cases investigated annually.
These incidents often occur when negligent or reckless drivers attempt to avoid responsibility after causing harm. Common reasons for fleeing the scene include driving under the influence, lack of insurance, outstanding warrants, or fear of legal consequences. However, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in injury or death is a felony offense under California Vehicle Code §20001.
