Los Angeles, CA – 3 Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on W Vernon Ave Near 110 Fwy

Los Angeles, CA (September 22, 2025) – On Sunday evening, September 21, a two-vehicle collision occurred in the Vermont Square neighborhood of Los Angeles, resulting in three individuals being transported to local hospitals. The crash took place in the 400 block of West Vernon Avenue, located just east of the Harbor (110) Freeway, and was reported shortly after 6:10 p.m.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, responding units arrived at the scene to find one of the vehicles involved had caught fire following the impact. Despite the severity of the crash and subsequent vehicle fire, none of the occupants were trapped inside their vehicles.

Paramedics rendered immediate aid at the scene before transporting three injured individuals to nearby hospitals for further evaluation and treatment. At this time, authorities have not released information regarding the ages, genders, or conditions of those transported.

Law enforcement officials worked alongside firefighters to secure the crash site and manage traffic conditions in the surrounding area. As part of the emergency response, the California Highway Patrol closed the Vernon Avenue off-ramp from the 110 Freeway to allow for safe investigation and the removal of debris and damaged vehicles. The closure resulted in temporary traffic delays for motorists traveling through the area until the roadway was fully reopened.

Investigators are reviewing the circumstances leading to the collision. Factors such as driver behavior, roadway conditions, and mechanical issues will be considered as part of the ongoing inquiry into what caused the vehicles to collide and one to ignite.

We extend our sympathies to the injured individuals and hope for their full and timely recovery.

Two-Vehicle Collisions in Los Angeles

Traffic collisions involving two vehicles remain a frequent occurrence in high-density urban areas such as Los Angeles. Intersections and roadways adjacent to major freeways, including West Vernon Avenue near the 110 Freeway, often experience heavy traffic volumes and fast-moving vehicles, which can contribute to serious accidents.3 Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on W Vernon Ave Near 110 Fwy

Injuries sustained in two-vehicle collisions range from mild to severe. Common outcomes include whiplash, fractures, burns, concussions, and internal injuries. Victims frequently face lengthy recovery periods, medical expenses, and financial challenges related to lost income and rehabilitation costs.

Accident investigations following such crashes are essential to determining liability. Law enforcement typically gathers physical evidence, documents roadway conditions, and interviews witnesses to reconstruct the sequence of events. These findings may establish whether negligence—such as distracted driving, speeding, or failure to yield—played a role.

Under California law, individuals injured in crashes caused by negligent drivers have the right to pursue compensation. Recoverable damages may include medical expenses, vehicle repairs, loss of income, and compensation for pain and suffering. Establishing liability in such cases often requires legal guidance, particularly when multiple parties are involved or when significant damages result.
