Long Bch., CA – Driver Arrested After Fatal Pedestrian Collision on 68th St

Long Beach, CA (September 13, 2025) – A tragic incident occurred on Thursday afternoon, September 11, in Long Beach when a woman was struck and killed while crossing the street in a marked crosswalk. The collision took place near Long Beach Boulevard and 68th Street at approximately 12:15 p.m.

The victim, a woman whose identity has not been released, was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The driver, identified as 65-year-old Eric Dewayne Moody of Los Angeles, initially fled the scene but returned around 40 minutes later. He was arrested for vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run, and is currently being held at the Long Beach City Jail on $50,000 bail.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
