Lodi, CA - Fatal Car Crash, Police Pursuit on Cherokee Ln Under Inquiry

Lodi, CA (June 21, 2025) – A 19-year-old man was killed after a police pursuit and crash on Friday night, June 20, in Lodi, according to the Lodi Police Department.

At approximately 11:17 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle driving recklessly and endangering the public in the area of South Cherokee Lane and East Vine Street, according to police. The officer was in a marked police vehicle and activated their emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. The suspect vehicle ultimately crashed and rolled over on its roof as it entered southbound Highway 99 at the on-ramp at Cherokee Lane and Century Boulevard.

Officers located two occupants in one of the vehicles involved. The passenger was able to exit the vehicle and was taken to a local hospital, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released. The driver was still in the vehicle, and officers were able to get him out and render aid until Lodi Fire and AMR personnel arrived on the scene.

The man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. It's unclear if anybody else was hurt. However, investigators continue to examine the circumstances leading up to the crash. Further details may be released as the investigation unfolds.
