Lemon Grove, CA (October 27, 2025) – Authorities are investigating a fatal multi-vehicle collision that occurred on Sunday, October 26, on northbound State Route 125 near Spring Street in Lemon Grove. The crash, reported shortly before 4:30 a.m., resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries, prompting a major response from the California Highway Patrol and emergency medical personnel.
According to officials, a 2023 Nissan Sentra traveling northbound on SR-125 veered out of its lane and collided with a 2007 Mercedes-Benz E350 that was parked along the right shoulder. Moments later, a 2022 Ford Edge struck the disabled Nissan, causing additional damage and injuries. The force of the collisions left several vehicles severely damaged and debris scattered across the roadway.
Investigators reported that the driver of the Nissan fled the scene on foot, leaving behind a gravely injured passenger. Emergency responders attempted to render aid, but the passenger, a 26-year-old San Diego resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of family members.
Two occupants of the Mercedes-Benz and the driver of the Ford Edge sustained minor injuries and received on-site medical attention before being transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. Traffic along SR-125 was temporarily closed as crews worked to remove the wreckage and document the scene.
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident. Authorities are working to locate the Nissan driver who fled and determine whether impairment, speed, or other factors contributed to the crash. No arrests have been announced as of this report.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim who lost their life in this tragic crash.
