Joshua Tree, CA - Man Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Twentynine Palms Hwy

Joshua Tree, CA (January 17, 2025) – Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver after a 31-year-old Twentynine Palms man was killed in a multi-car crash on Twentynine Palms Highway near Kerr Avenue Tuesday, January 14.

California Highway Patrol Officer Michael Radford said the victim was driving a 2020 Nissan Sentra when a chain-reaction collision involving a Chevrolet, Burrtec trash truck, and a Tesla Model Y occurred in the left lanes.

The victim was transported to Hi-Desert Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Tesla was also taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center with injuries. Police added that the driver of the Chevrolet fled the site of the incident. However, officials have not disclosed the identities of those involved, and investigations are ongoing. Authorities are urging witnesses or anyone with information about the crash to come forward.

We extend our deepest condolences to the deceased man's family members. Our thoughts are also with the injured victims and their loved ones. We hope for their full recovery at this time.

Hit-and-Run Accidents in California

Accidents involving motor vehicles, including those that hit another vehicle or person and ultimately flee the scene, are regrettably the norm on the roads of the state of California. These occurrences have the potential to cause victims and their families to suffer from mental anguish, as well as major property damage and life-threatening injuries.

In the state of California, victims of automobile accidents, as well as their affected family members, have the legal right to seek compensation for costs associated with medical care, lost income, pain and suffering, and other damages that were caused by drivers who were negligent or reckless. The state of California operates under a comparative negligence system, which implies that victims can still recover damages even if they are partially at blame, with their compensation being reduced correspondingly.

During the aftermath of an accident, it is important to take prompt action for several reasons, including the protection of your legal rights, the documentation of injuries, and the preservation of evidence. Because the statute of limitations for personal injury claims in the state of California is two years, you must begin action as soon as you possibly can.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a car accident, consulting with an experienced auto accident attorney can make all the difference. A skilled attorney will handle the legal complexities, negotiate with insurance companies, and fight to secure the compensation you deserve.
