Huntington Beach, CA (August 11, 2025) – Kolby Aipa, a 20-year-old surfer and grandson of iconic Hawaiian surfboard shaper Ben Aipa, tragically died after being struck by a vehicle while riding an e-bike in Huntington Beach on Saturday night, August 9. The crash occurred just after 10 p.m. on Pacific Coast Highway and Seapoint Street, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.
Police reported that an unidentified man from Huntington Beach was driving a Toyota Tacoma south on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), with Aipa on the e-bike, hanging onto the vehicle. The driver lost control of the Tacoma, causing a collision between the truck and the e-bike. The exact cause of the loss of control remains unclear.
Aipa was injured in the crash and later succumbed to his injuries.
