Harbor City, CA (September 27, 2025) – A 35-year-old motorcyclist was killed Thursday afternoon, September 25, in a collision on Pacific Coast Highway near Western Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:55 p.m. when the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Pacific Coast Highway. Police reported that a silver van traveling westbound made a left turn in front of the motorcycle. The rider lost control, and moments later was struck by an older-model pickup truck also traveling westbound.
Both the van and the pickup truck fled the scene without stopping to render aid, officials confirmed. Paramedics with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded and attempted life-saving measures, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
The Los Angeles Police Department has asked for the public’s assistance in identifying the drivers of the vehicles involved in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the motorcyclist who tragically lost their life in this collision.
Motorcyclists are at a heightened risk of severe or fatal injury in traffic collisions due to their lack of physical protection. In areas such as the Pacific Coast Highway, where high traffic volumes and turning vehicles are common, riders face significant dangers. Even a single moment of negligence by another driver can result in a life-threatening or fatal accident.
Crashes involving motorcycles often lead to devastating outcomes for victims and their families. In addition to the sudden emotional toll, families may also face financial burdens from funeral expenses and the loss of income or support. When other drivers leave the scene, as in this case, the impact on loved ones can be even more difficult, underscoring the importance of accountability and thorough investigation.
In fatal motorcycle crashes, families may have the right to pursue wrongful death claims. Legal action can provide compensation for funeral costs, loss of earnings, and other damages associated with the accident. Experienced attorneys play a vital role in protecting the rights of victims’ families and ensuring they receive the support they need during this difficult time.
