Glenn, CA (September 28, 2025) – Authorities responded on Friday morning, September 26, to a rear-end collision on Highway 32 that resulted in one driver being hospitalized with injuries.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash occurred at approximately 5:52 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 32 and County Road VV. A Ford traveling eastbound had slowed to make a left turn into private property along the 7700 block of the roadway.
At the same time, a Honda, also traveling eastbound at about 55 miles per hour, failed to notice the Ford slowing ahead and collided with its rear.
Following the impact, the Honda lost control and came to rest partially in the eastbound lane near County Road VV. Emergency responders arrived quickly and transported the 71-year-old Honda driver to Enloe Health in Chico for treatment of injuries. The Ford driver was not injured. CHP noted that both drivers had been wearing seat belts, but the Honda’s airbags did not deploy despite the force of the collision.
Investigators are continuing to review the circumstances surrounding the crash. No citations or arrests have been reported at this stage.
We wish the injured driver a smooth and complete recovery.
Rear-end collisions are among the most frequent roadway accidents and are often the result of drivers failing to maintain a safe following distance or not noticing slowing traffic. On highways such as Highway 32, where speeds are generally higher and visibility may be limited in rural stretches, these accidents can occur suddenly and leave little time to react.
While some rear-end crashes cause only property damage, many result in injuries that range from mild to severe. Victims, particularly older drivers, may experience complications such as whiplash, fractures, or head trauma, which can require ongoing treatment and rehabilitation. Even injuries initially considered minor may develop into long-term medical concerns if left untreated.
California law requires drivers to operate their vehicles responsibly, including staying alert and maintaining control to avoid collisions. When negligence leads to a rear-end crash, injured victims may pursue compensation for hospital bills, rehabilitation costs, time missed from work, and pain and suffering. These claims can help ease the financial impact of the recovery process and ensure that victims receive the support they need.
