Fresno, CA - Elderly Woman Identified in Head-on Crash on Butler Ave

Fresno, CA (July 8, 2025) – Mary Bonds, 86, of Fresno, died in a head-on collision on Butler Avenue last Wednesday afternoon near Fowler Avenue in unincorporated southeast Fresno County, and officers released her identity on Tuesday, July 8. The traffic accident occurred at around 12:35 p.m. on Wednesday, per the Fresno County CHP Office.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the elderly woman was driving a Nissan Versa east on Butler Avenue when it was involved in a crash with a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. Upon impact, the woman suffered major injuries and died on the scene. However, the 20-year-old Fresno woman driving the pickup did not report any immediate injuries. Investigators are working on the case but do not suspect alcohol and or drugs were factors in the crash. The cause of the crash remained under investigation as of Tuesday, however, and witnesses were asked to get in touch.
