Forestville, CA - Woman Dies, Two Hurt in Two-Car Collision on Hwy 116

Forestville, CA (January 11, 2025) – A driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a two-car crash that killed one person in Sonoma County on Friday evening, January 10, authorities said.

The crash occurred just before 9:15 p.m. in the Forestville area when the driver of a Honda CRV traveling eastbound on Highway 116 west of Giovannetti Road lost control, veered into the opposite lane, and crashed into a Lincoln Zephyr approaching westbound, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Santa Rosa office.

The Honda’s male driver, female passenger, and Lincoln’s male driver were all hospitalized after the crash. The female passenger was pronounced dead at the hospital, CHP said. Meanwhile, anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Santa Rosa CHP. The investigation continues at this time, and no further details were provided in the interim.

We offer our deepest condolences to the deceased woman's loved ones. Our thoughts are also with the injured victims and their families at this time.

Deadly Auto Accidents in California

Fatal auto accidents are an unfortunate reality on California’s busy roads and highways. Whether caused by distracted driving, speeding, or hazardous road conditions, the aftermath of an accident can be overwhelming. If you’ve been injured in a car accident, understanding your rights under California’s personal injury law is essential.

California follows a fault-based system, meaning the at-fault driver is responsible for covering damages through their insurance. However, determining fault isn’t always straightforward, and insurance companies often attempt to minimize payouts. This is where having an experienced personal injury attorney can make all the difference.

Under California law, injured parties have the right to seek compensation for medical bills, lost wages, property damage, and even non-economic losses like pain and suffering. California’s comparative negligence system means you can still recover damages even if you were partially at fault, though your compensation will be reduced proportionally.

Navigating the legal complexities of a car accident claim can be daunting, especially when you’re focused on recovery. Consulting our knowledgeable legal team at Countrywide Trial Lawyers, who is familiar with California law on personal injury law, ensures your rights are protected and you have the best chance of securing fair compensation.
