Chowchilla, CA - Woman Dies in Two-Car Accident at Rd 9 & Ave 25

Chowchilla, CA (February 25, 2025) – A woman has died following a crash in Madera County early Tuesday morning, February 25. The California Highway Patrol says the crash happened just before 5:00 a.m. on Road 9 and Avenue 25, just west of Chowchilla.

Officers say a woman was driving a Nissan Altima south on Road 9 when a Toyota Tacoma going west crashed into the side of the Altima. The woman was declared dead at the scene; the driver of the Tacoma complained of pain but was not taken to the hospital.

Officers say drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors. The area was briefly shut down in the morning as crews responded to the crash, though the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
