Camarillo, CA - Victims Identified in Deadly Auto Accident on Hwy 101

Camarillo, CA (March 25, 2025) – On March 24, authorities released the names of the two men who died in a traffic collision on northbound Highway 101 in Camarillo last week.

Dong Shan Ma and Mason W. Ryan, both 21 and Goleta residents, were killed in the crash between the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta they were in and a 2015 Ford Mustang, according to the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office. The California Highway Patrol previously said Ma and Ryan had stopped in the highway's center median near Carmen Drive.

Just before 3:00 a.m., a 2015 Ford Mustang struck their vehicle from behind, causing it to catch fire. Both men in the Jetta died from injuries sustained in the crash, the CHP said. The area was briefly shut down in the morning as crews responded to the crash, though the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
