Camarillo, CA (November 10, 2025) – A 35-year-old man was struck and killed late Saturday night, November 8, in a hit-and-run collision along Naumann Road, south of Etting Road, in an unincorporated area of Ventura County near Camarillo. According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly before midnight in a rural agricultural zone located between Camarillo and South Oxnard.
Deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office initially responded to the scene and later transferred the investigation to the California Highway Patrol, which has jurisdiction over the area. Preliminary reports indicate that the victim had been walking northbound on Naumann Road when a vehicle traveling in the same direction struck him. The impact propelled the pedestrian into a parked Dodge Charger on the right shoulder of the road.
Emergency medical personnel pronounced the man deceased at the scene. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin. The driver responsible for the collision fled immediately after the crash, and investigators have not yet identified the suspect or the vehicle involved.
Naumann Road was closed between Dufau Road and Etting Road for approximately three hours while officers conducted a detailed on-site investigation and collected evidence. Officials are urging anyone with information about the hit-and-run driver or vehicle to contact the California Highway Patrol’s Ventura Area office.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim during this challenging time.
Pedestrian fatalities in rural and agricultural areas such as those surrounding Camarillo often occur under low-light conditions and on roads without sidewalks or adequate shoulders. These factors, combined with high travel speeds and reduced visibility, make such areas particularly dangerous for those on foot.
According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, hit-and-run crashes continue to rise throughout Ventura County, with many resulting in fatalities. Drivers who flee the scene of an accident not only violate California Vehicle Code §20001 but also deprive victims of potentially life-saving aid. The consequences of leaving the scene are severe, carrying felony charges and substantial prison sentences when a death occurs.
Families affected by fatal pedestrian accidents often face immense emotional and financial hardship. Legal options may be available to pursue wrongful death claims that provide compensation for funeral costs, loss of income, and emotional suffering. In hit-and-run cases, victims’ families may also be able to recover through uninsured motorist coverage if the suspect vehicle remains unidentified.
