Bakersfield, CA - Pedestrian Dead in Accident at S Union & Hosking Aves

Bakersfield, CA (July 4, 2025) – A man died after being hit by a vehicle that left the scene Friday morning in south Bakersfield, police said.

Officers were called on July 4 at 9:39 a.m. to the 8100 block of South Union Avenue, near Hosking Avenue, for a report of a person down on the shoulder of the northbound lanes, police said. They found a man who had “obvious signs” of having been hit by a vehicle, according to a Bakersfield Police Department release.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name will be released by the coroner’s office. Anyone with information is asked to call BPD, but an investigation remains ongoing in the interim.
