Bakersfield, CA - Fatality Reported in Head-on Accident on Taft Hwy

Bakersfield, CA (February 3, 2025) – The California Highway Patrol reported that one person was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Taft Highway on Friday, January 31. CHP officials said the driver of a Nissan van traveling southbound on Buena Vista Road failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the intersection at Taft Highway.

A Jeep traveling westbound on the highway was unable to avoid the van and struck the Nissan. Both drivers were transported to Kern Medical Hospital, and one later died. Meanwhile, authorities are urging witnesses or anyone with information about the crash to come forward; in the interim, an investigation is still ongoing.
