Bakersfield, CA – DUI Crash Kills One, Injures Two on Panama Ln & Stine Rd

Bakersfield, CA (August 25, 2025) – A suspected DUI crash in Bakersfield early Sunday morning left one person dead and two others injured, according to the Bakersfield Police Department. The crash occurred on August 24, 2025, around 1:20 a.m. at the intersection of Panama Lane and Stine Road.

Officers responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash and arrived to find both vehicles severely damaged west of the intersection. A woman in her 20s was found in the roadway with severe injuries. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the crash occurred when a vehicle traveling westbound collided with a southbound vehicle at the intersection. The driver of the southbound vehicle was rushed to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the westbound vehicle sustained only minor injuries. The deceased woman was a passenger who was ejected from the vehicle during the collision.

Speed and alcohol appear to be contributing factors in the crash, according to police reports. As investigators worked at the scene, two other vehicles drove through a police barricade and entered the crash site. Both drivers, a man and a woman, were arrested on suspicion of DUI. They were booked into the Kern County Jail.
