Los Angeles, CA (November 5, 2025) – Multiple emergency units responded to a serious collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on Tuesday evening, November 4, along the northbound Interstate 5 Freeway near Osmore Street in Los Angeles.
According to emergency dispatch reports, Rescue 77, Engine 207, and Engine 89 were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of an auto-pedestrian collision in the northbound lanes. Upon arrival, first responders located an injured pedestrian lying near the roadway suffering from trauma consistent with being struck by a vehicle.
Paramedics provided immediate medical assistance at the scene before transporting the victim to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The pedestrian’s current condition has not been disclosed. The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with investigating officers.
California Highway Patrol officers temporarily closed several lanes on the northbound I-5 Freeway to allow emergency crews to safely conduct rescue and cleanup operations. Traffic in the area was backed up for several miles until the roadway was fully cleared later in the evening.
Investigators are working to determine the events that led to the collision. It remains unclear why the pedestrian was on the freeway at the time of the incident. Authorities are reviewing possible contributing factors, including visibility, roadway conditions, and driver speed.
We extend our thoughts to the injured pedestrian and wish them a full and swift recovery.
Pedestrian accidents that occur on major freeways such as Interstate 5 are often severe due to the high speeds involved and the limited time drivers have to react. The combination of fast-moving traffic and restricted pedestrian access zones makes these incidents especially dangerous.
According to data from the California Highway Patrol, Los Angeles County consistently records some of the highest numbers of freeway-related pedestrian collisions in the state. These crashes often involve motorists who have exited disabled vehicles, pedestrians attempting to cross lanes, or those walking near construction or maintenance areas.
Injuries from freeway pedestrian accidents are frequently critical and require extensive medical treatment and rehabilitation. Victims and their families often face significant financial burdens in the aftermath. Legal guidance can help injured parties or their loved ones understand their rights, identify liability, and seek compensation for medical costs, lost income, and other damages.
