Pedestrian collisions, especially those involving hit-and-run drivers, remain a serious public safety concern across Riverside County. Intersections such as Esplanade Avenue and San Jacinto Avenue see steady traffic throughout the day, increasing the risk of pedestrian-related incidents when drivers fail to remain alert or yield appropriately.
According to data from the California Office of Traffic Safety, pedestrian fatalities and severe injuries have continued to rise statewide in recent years. Leaving the scene of an accident is a criminal offense under California law and can significantly worsen the outcome for victims who need urgent medical attention.
Pedestrians struck by vehicles often suffer life-altering injuries, including fractures, head trauma, and internal damage. Victims and their families may face extended recovery periods, substantial medical expenses, and emotional distress.
