Lancaster, CA (November 4, 2025) – The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating a deadly two-vehicle collision that occurred on Friday afternoon, November 2, at the intersection of Avenue D and 70th Street West near Lancaster.
According to official reports, the crash was reported at approximately 2:30 p.m. and involved a 2002 Ford and a 2021 Peterbilt truck. Preliminary findings indicate that the Ford, driven by a 66-year-old woman from Palmdale, was traveling north on 70th Street West when it entered the intersection and was struck by the eastbound truck driven by a 24-year-old man from Riverside.
Both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the crash. Investigators confirmed that neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to be contributing factors. Emergency crews responded promptly to the scene, but the female driver sustained fatal injuries. The truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated fully with investigators.
Authorities closed surrounding roads for approximately two hours as officers conducted on-site investigations and cleared the vehicles involved. The California Highway Patrol continues to review all available evidence, including witness accounts and roadway conditions, to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the fatal collision.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the woman who lost her life in this tragic accident.
Serious collisions such as the one on Avenue D highlight the ongoing risks drivers face on Lancaster’s rural and high-speed corridors. Intersections with limited visibility and higher traffic speeds often contribute to severe or fatal outcomes when crashes occur. According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, the Antelope Valley region continues to experience a steady number of deadly crashes each year, many involving failure to yield or misjudgment at intersections.
Fatal crashes not only result in devastating emotional loss but also present complex legal and financial challenges for the victim’s surviving family members. In such cases, seeking experienced legal guidance can be vital in understanding available options for compensation, including recovery for funeral expenses, lost income, and other damages resulting from wrongful death.
